Chris Gayle was outshone by ex-England pair Kevin Pietersen and Luke Wright in his first Big Bash League game since provoking a sexism row.
The West Indies batsman was fined £4,800 by his club the Melbourne Renegades after asking Channel 10 reporter Mel McLaughlin out for a drink during a pitchside interview and responding to her obvious discomfort by adding: 'Don't blush, baby.'
Gayle opened the batting after the Renegades were put in by their city rivals the Melbourne Stars at the Docklands Stadium, and hit two sixes in an innings of 21 at a run a ball before holing out to long on.

Stoinis and Wright put on a quick 33 for the first wicket before Pietersen joined his former international colleague in the middle.
