Adnan Januzaj will be given 'a second chance' at Manchester United after Louis van Gaal confirmed that the Belgian star is back in his plans following a disappointing loan spell at Borussia Dortmund.
Januzaj ignored his manager's advice to join the Bundesliga club in the summer and it backfired as he failed to make a single start for Dortmund.
The 20-year-old has fallen from grace at Old Trafford since he was persuaded to sign a five-year contract under David Moyes in 2013, but Van Gaal insists he still has faith in him.
Manchester United's Adnan Januzaj will get 'a second chance' after ending his Borussia Dortmund loan
United manager Louis van Gaal says he believes Januzaj's talent despite his frustrating Dortmund spell
Van Gaal says the 20-year-old could play in United's U21s match at Reading U21s on Monday night
The Dutchman confirmed that Januzaj had undergone a fitness test on Friday morning following his return, and would go straight into contention for the Under 21 team at Reading on Monday along with Will Keane, who has been on loan at Preston.
'It's more or less the same as we've found with Will Keane, for example,' said Van Gaal. 'They are coming to us to ask for a second chance and Manchester United is a club who takes care of all their players. I think it's a very good habit to do that.
'I believe in the talent of Adnan Januzaj and said that also, and I said it would be difficult to play matches in Dortmund and I thought it was right. When he doesn't play there too much he can better train for us and maybe play in the first team.
'He has been tested already this morning. He didn't play so many 90 minutes in matches only in pre-season and he has to show his fitness in the second team.
'We have to wait if the papers are alright. If he can play in the second team on Monday then he will do. He is fit to play and that's very good and then he can show his quality.'
