If you thought that just about every item in your home that can be made 'smart' has been, think again.
A Japanese toilet manufacturer has created a fully-automated self-cleaning smart toilet.
The high-tech ‘intelligent’ lavatory opens its lid when it sees you coming, closes when you leave, and cleans itself after every flush.
And no need to fear the cold mechanical touch of technology against your derriere, as it will even warm the seat for you.

The Neorest 750H, from bathroom and sanitary ware manufacturer Toto, is on display at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week.
According to Toto, it incorporates a number technologies to clean itself.
The clever WC relies on Actilight technology, which blasts the toilet bowl with ultraviolet light, killing bugs and helping it to remain non-stick.
The surface of the bowl is coated with a layer of titanium dioxide and zirconium, and is super-hydrophilic – attracting water droplets to its surface to create a thin film of water.
Elsewhere, it uses electrolysis to remove any waste from inside the bowl and the flush uses electrolysed water.
This contains mild germ-killing properties.
The manufacturers claim the intelligent toilet may only need to be cleaned as little as once a year.
However, it is only able to clean inside. So users will still be responsible for any near misses.

For the more intimate experience, the intelligent throne also provides what the firm calls a 'washing wand' with three settings, including pulsing sprays, which use warm water and air.
But all this tech doesn't come cheap.
The Neorest 750H carries a $9,800 (£6,714) price tag.
The manufacturer said it is working on newer model of the Neorest with more customisable functions and this could be released later this year.
The toilet has auto open and close functions for its lid and cleans itself after every flush. It also incorporates a number of self-cleaning technologies.
