Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has admitted to being unimpressed by the club's academy after going to watch a recent Under 21 fixture.
In recent times, the likes of Gareth Bale and Theo Walcott are just two of the big names Southampton have produced. However, Koeman has expressed concerns over the next crop of young players coming through.
The Dutchman went public with his desire for Southampton to remain ambitious in order to keep him on board at the end of the season, but the Under 21 clash he witnessed, did little to help their cause.

'I wasn't impressed,' Koeman said. 'I look to the development of young players and they still have a lot to learn and they are still not on the level that is needed for the Premier League.
'It is more difficult to get into the first team of Southampton than it was four years ago.'
The 52-year-old has been forced to sell some of the club's biggest players in recent years, with the likes of Morgan Schneiderlin and Nathaniel Clyne moving on. And with both Sadio Mane and Victor Wanyama attracting interest from elsewhere, the Saints could be set for another exodus this summer.
