THE owner of the Sydney bakery at the centre of a food poisoning scandal has apologised to sick customers and extended well-wishes to those struck by the suspected salmonella outbreak.
At least 150 people reportedly became violently ill after eating chicken or pork rolls from Sylvania’s Box Village Bakery over the weekend.
Health authorities were forced to close down the business pending an investigation.
Box Village Bakery owner Hien “Johnny” Dau, 49, said he was sorry to all those affected.
“Dear customer, we are really sorry about what happen. We hope everyone get well soon. We are sorry again,” the note read.

Mr Dau told the Daily Telegraph he had learned from his mistakes.
“All my customers I want to do something, to apologise,” he said. “I say sorry — that’s no good. I need to do something. “I feel really bad. I feel sick for people in hospital.”
According to the Daily Telegraph, Mr Dau said when the NSW Food Authority, which placed a prohibition order on his business on Monday shutting it down, allows him to reopen he would offer free food for one to two days as an act of goodwill.
But it is not clear how his customers will feel about returning to the bakery with a sign on his shop window stating: “You grubs, my son is still in hospital because of you.”

The shop will remain closed until an investigation into the incident is complete, a NSW Food Authority spokeswoman said.
At least 40 people presented themselves to St George and Sutherland hospitals over the weekend after they consumed food believed to be prepared at the bakery in Sylvania.
Thirteen of those people, including young children, were admitted for further treatment.
Initial tests showed the patients had suffered salmonella poisoning, a NSW Health spokeswoman said on Tuesday.
Salmonella symptoms include diarrhoea, vomiting, fever, nausea, headache and stomach cramps and can start between six to 72 hours after the bacteria is ingested.
Up to 100 people are suspected to have fallen ill after eating food from the bakery at the weekend, with some suffering severe diarrhoea and vomiting.
