The end of bulging wallets? £30 'Curve' stores all your bank cards in one place - and there's no limit for contactless payments

If your wallet is full to bursting with bank cards, but contactless caps are no use for your weekly shop, a new card called Curve could help.

Designed to make it easier to manage your money, the card replaces multiple bank cards to enable all payments to be made from one place.

And there's also no £30 cap on it for making contactless payments meaning that buyers can spend however much they want with retailers who accept higher limits.

Developed by a London-based start-up, Curve lets users combine an unlimited number of bank cards into one physical payment card, which will be accepted everywhere MasterCards work.

It is designed to link to an app that will enable users to see all their transactions in real-time with a single tap, get access to low foreign currency rates and use Amex at places it isn't accepted.

The card works in the same way as every other card built on the MasterCard Network and will support chip and pin, magstripe and contactless technology.

HOW DOES CURVE WORK?

Users have to order a card via the Curve website or iOS app for a fee of £35.

The set-up is said to be simple.

Users scan an unlimited number of existing debit and credit cards through the Curve app, which syncs them with the Curve card.

The Curve card looks and works just like a standard bank cards with chip and pin, magstripe and contactless technologies.

Users will be able to set up a default card in the app and can change it to another card before payment in the app with one swipe.

The Curve app will display every transaction made, with a running total across each month.

This is designed to let users manage and understand their spending by labelling transactions.

Because it is a prepaid MasterCard, it will have bank-level protection and all the security features of traditional cards.

The start-up claims original card details and data will not be passed onto merchants and instead, a unique 'token' is used to process a payment.

'These added layers of security protect against fraud and remove the worry that often comes when a bank card is lost as the original cards are safely at home,' the firm said.

Shachar Bialick, boss and co-founder of Curve explained: 'We're not another new bank or extra service to deal with, we transform your existing fragmented financial world into somewhere crystal clear, designed for the user.

'Mobile payments have the potential to bring similar benefits, but cards work everywhere and people are used to them.

'So we've created the best of both worlds - all the benefits of mobile payments via a ground-breaking card.'

While the card and app are free to use, there is a cost of £35 for shipping when the card is first ordered. Users can then set it up on the app themselves.

At first, only a limited number of users in the business community will be able to use the card, which launches on iOS in the UK and EU only, but it will roll out to consumers in the 'coming months'.
