Four women look at the camera and smile defiantly, their faces covered with burns.
They are survivors of horrific acid attacks in Bangladesh, who have gathered at a national conference organised by the Acid Survivors Foundation (ASF), in Dhaka, the capital.
Victims of such senseless attacks pledged to 'rise and win the battle against against acid violence' and called on the government to stand by them.
Since 1999, 3625 people have been victims of acid attacks in 3270 incidents.
Of these, 1847 were female, 901 were male and 877 were children, according to ASF.
Some criminals use acid to inflict devastating pain on their victims, due to its low cost and horrific impact.
Owing to the sensitivity and damage usually sustained by the acid on the victim's face, injuries are usually lifechanging.
According to Bangladesh National Women Lawyer Association in 2015 violence for dowry, and stalking had increased and incidents resulted in the killing of 1,847 women and girls while 301 others had committed suicide.
Selina Ahmed, executive director of ASF, said acid violence continues because of patriarchy and lack of education and equality.
She stressed at the conference the importance of fighting the stigma to stop such violence.
