A “HOMELESS” man who was spotted getting into a plush sports car after a day of begging has had the motor smashed up.
Matthew Brinton angered residents of the town of Newquay in Cornwall, England, after a video emerged of him loading up the boot of the Audi TT after a day of begging for money.
But now it appears the expensive car reportedly worth thousands of dollars has been vandalised — despite him no longer owning it.
New photos show the car’s windscreen has been smashed with a large object, shattering the glass and it appears to be spattered with mud.
The 35-year-old said he’s received death threats from angry residents who had assumed he was passing himself off as homeless in a bid to deceive them out of cash.
Matthew often sits on Bank Street Newquay, with his border collie Hazel.
Angry residents hit out on a Facebook page, warning others not to give money to the suspected conman.
On Facebook outraged Kain wrote: “This vile man claims to be homeless yet is driving around in a black Audi TT! He sits outside of the Newquay clintons card shop!
“This has been removed from the Newquay page for reasons that can’t be discussed, but this guy needs to be stopped!! It’s had 500+ shares! Let’s make it go viral!”
But despite the incriminating footage, Matthew claims the lavish car was a gift from his nan and was stolen soon after the video was shot.
He said: “I have not seen any of the social media posts because I do not have access to the internet but according to the police I’ve had lots of death threats.
“People are assuming too much and I’m getting a lot of abuse, which is pushing me to suicide.
“This has been going on for years. There is only so much someone can take.”
