A TEEN dressage competitor from Norway has become the world’s youngest billionaire.

Alexandra Andresen, 19, and her 20-year-old sister Katharina inherited their $1.2bn fortune from their wealthy father, Johan F. Andresen.

He transferred his stake in Norway’s biggest company, Ferd Holdings, to his daughters in 2007 — each receiving 42.2 per cent. But their ownership was only made public in 2014 because of tax laws that protect minors, the NY Post reported.

The Andresen heiresses took out the 1475th spot on Forbes magazine’s 2016 list of the world’s billionaires.

But despite feeling “a great responsibility” to eventually work for the family’s private investment company — Alexandra’s focus will remain on training to compete in the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics. Her older sister Katharina is currently studying at the Amsterdam University College.

Alexandra said she received over 500 friend requests on Facebook after her inheritance became public knowledge.

Microsoft founder Bill Gates again clinched the top spot with a net worth of $75bn. The 60-year-old has held the top honour for 17 of the last 22 years.

Rounding out the top five were Zara founder Amancio Ortega with $67bn, US business magnate Warren Buffett with $60.8bn, Mexican telecommunications entrepreneur Carlos Slim Helu and Amazon chief Jeff Bezos with $45.2bn.

This is the first year Bezos and Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg reached the top 10.

The richest female billionaire is French L’Oreal heiress Liliane Bettencourt, coming in at number 11 with $36.1bn.

Meanwhile, Beijing has surpassed New York City as the “billionaire capital of the world”, with 100 resident billionaires to the US business and cultural capital’s 95.

The number of Beijing billionaires rose by 32 from last year, while New York’s tally rose by just four, according to the Hurun Report, a China-based publisher of luxury magazines and compiler of an annual list of the country’s richest people. Moscow came in third, with 66 billionaires.

“Despite its own slowdown and falling stock markets, China minted more new billionaires than any other country in the world last year, mainly on the back of new listings,” said Rupert Hoogewerf, its chairman and chief researcher.

Different lists of the world’s wealthiest, including Forbes, Bloomberg and Hurun, produce different results based on varying methodologies.

Last year, Greater China surpassed the US to become home to the largest population of billionaires in the world, Hurun said in a previous October report.

Its new figures, released on Wednesday, said that the region is now home to 568 billionaires — 90 more than last year — with a combined net worth of $1.4 trillion, a sum comparable to the GDP of Australia.

Just over 40 per cent of the world’s billionaires under 40 reside in China, the report added.

In comparison, 535 billionaires call the US home — two fewer than last year.

China’s richest man, real estate and entertainment magnate Wang Jianlin, ranked 21st on Hurun’s list of the world’s richest people with a net worth of $26 billion. He came in at number 18 on Forbes’ list.

Other Chinese billionaires on the list include Jack Ma, founder of Alibaba, and the heads of tech giants Tencent and Baidu, as well as the chief executives of leading beverage producer Wahaha and electronics company Xiaomi.
