Trevor Bayliss happy for Jos Buttler to play in IPL if he is not in England's Test team

England head coach Trevor Bayliss has given Jos Buttler his blessing to play in this year's Indian Premier League.

England players have largely missed out on cricket's biggest money-spinner since its inception in 2008 because it clashes with the start of their international season.

Buttler is behind Jonny Bairstow in the Test pecking order and if he is not selected for two Tests against Sri Lanka in May, Bayliss is more than happy for him to head to India.

'It's something we've spoken about,' Bayliss, who has coached in the IPL, told the BBC. 'If the opportunity arrives and he is not in the Test team and the IPL window is a possibility, I'd be all for it.'

England's one-day captain Eoin Morgan will also play as those not in the Test team are encouraged to head to India rather than focus on four-day cricket with their counties.

Buttler scored England's fastest ever one-day international hundred in November as bludgeoned Pakistan for 116 off 52 balls in the UAE.
