WHEN will you people learn to triple-check before sending out mass emails?
Parents at an elementary school in Delaware were left fuming when they checked their inboxes this morning.
They received a document from Lombardy Elementary School in Wilmington, based on an upcoming ‘Exercise Your Brain Day’ event at the Brandywine Hundred School.
Only uh ... the whole document was one big piss-take of kids who “whine” about their “hurt feelings”.
And boy, were these parents’ feelings hurt.
The sarcastic ‘Hurt Feelings Report’ asks recipients to fill in answers to questions like ‘Type of whine used’, ‘Name of person who hurt your pansy ass feelings’ and ‘Which ear were the hurtful words spoken into?’
It goes on to ask the recipient to tick their reasons for filing the report, with answers ranging from ‘I am thin-skinned’ and ‘My feelings are easily hurt’ to ‘I want my mommy’ and ‘Two beers is not enough’.
The one-page document can be found on various humour sites.
The school’s principal later sent a recorded phone message apologising to parents.
“The attachment was something that had been sent to them from a person external to the school,” the spokesperson said. “It was not an official document of Lombardy Elementary or the Brandywine School District. This was an embarrassing mistake, but it was just that — a mistake. It should not have happened, and we apologise for the error.”
A spokesperson for Brandywine School District said a staff member had attached the wrong document by accident, and that it came from “a source external to the school”.
The social media reaction largely praised the document’s humour, with many users pointing out the irony in parents’ “whining about whining”.
Chris Lawrence, a journalist for a Washington television station, said: “As a parent, I honestly wouldn’t be all that offended by this. I’ve got two kids with a third on the way — and let’s be real, the constant whining can get very, very annoying.
“It seems some of the workers or teachers were just having a bit of fun, poking fun at their work environment ... like all of us do on occasion. Good that they apologised, but I don’t think it means they don’t care about the kids.”
Parents told NBC10 that while the email was unfortunate, they did not believe it was a reflection of the school.
