Divorced men and women are having divorce cakes made to celebrate the end of their marriage

In 2015, social media was flooded with cheerful exes sharing 'divorce selfies' outside court houses and hosting parties to celebrate the end of their marriage.

Now, the bizarrely optimistic breakup attitude is continuing with 'divorce cakes' becoming more popular than ever.

Over the past year, hundreds of satisfied (and often spiteful) men and women from around the world have taken to Instagram to proudly share snaps of cakes made to celebrate the end of a marriage.

Recently, a baker shared a photo of her 'very first divorce cake' which showed a male wedding topper pushing his bride off the top and onto the ground.

'It's not me...it's you!' She captioned the image.

The frightening violence-themed cakes continued with other cakes showing bloodied up brides dragging suited-up grooms along the cake, Barbie's and dolls celebrating their beaten up husbands and a groom topper burying his bride in a mud cake grave.

'Celebrating our coworkers release #chainhasbeenbroken,' one woman wrote.

'Slightly inappropriate but so delicious...,' said another.

Another cake was topped with a bride donning in gloves punching her groom in the face and completed with blood red icing dripping down the sides.

Another common theme was brides 'taking out the garbage', with bride cake toppers dragging their grooms toward a trash can.

Others chose to simply have a message written on the top of their cakes.

Newly unwed: 'Because when things are that bad & your divorce papers arrive, celebration is a must!' One woman wrote next to her cake, which was topped with a doll holding a sign saying 'finally I'm free'

Not just women: 'Unhitched from the witch,' one cake read, which was iced with a picture of a witch flying into the starry night

'Because when things are that bad & your divorce papers arrive, celebration is a must!' One woman wrote next to her cake, which was topped with a doll holding a sign saying 'finally I'm free' and divorce papers.

One woman chose to have 'f**k that s**t' written on her cake, saying '#divorcecake is the sweetest cake.'

All smiles: 'Love this shot of Ruth cutting her divorce cake,' a baker wrote next to a photo of a happy woman cutting into her 'free at last' dessert

Other women were seen smiling proudly beside the cakes during the parties.

'Don't worry be happy...you're divorced,' the cake read, which was held by a cheerful woman celebrating her best friend's divorce.

While bitter brides appear to be the most likely to celebrate with a cake, men have also jumped on board the trend.
